The Passage of Time

For approximately 2,000 years, between 1,000 B.C. and 1,000 A.D, people who inhabited this canyon pecked away the dark patina of these rock walls to reveal images that give us clues as to who they were and what was important to their existence.

Slowly the Ute nation took over this canyon from the pre-historic tribes and added their artwork next. From lines and circles to mark the passage of time to large animals with branching horns, we have beautifully preserved carvings on ancient rock to explore at Gunnison River farms.
